Fivio Foreign brought hip-hop energy to New York Fashion Week, opening and closing PUBLIC SERV-CE’s Spring/Summer 2027 runway presentation, “The Rest Is Noise,” at Arte Museum New York.
The Brooklyn rapper became one of the show’s main attractions as founder and creative director Raphael Young presented a collection built around fashion, music, structure, and experimentation. Ron Abaekobe and Bryant Barnes also walked in the presentation.
Fivio’s runway appearance helped connect the collection to contemporary music culture, a theme that ran throughout the show.
Young collaborated with rapper, DJ, and songwriter JNR Choi on an original EP, also titled “The Rest Is Noise,” which was released during the runway presentation. The music was created as part of the overall concept rather than serving only as a soundtrack.
On the fashion side, the collection featured extended shoulders, fitted lower silhouettes, longer tops, sleeveless blazers, and structured outerwear. Sculpted shoulder pads remained a recurring PUBLIC SERV-CE design element.
The brand also introduced a mineral treatment developed in-house and applied to denim, cotton jersey, fleece, and wool suiting. The process gives the fabric a cracked surface while maintaining its softness, creating a different finish on each garment.
Other details included double-zip patch pockets, structured vegan nappa leather jackets, vests, tank tops, and slim pants.
PUBLIC SERV-CE also partnered with Zaha Hadid Design on eyewear created for the collection, extending the show’s focus on architecture and proportion.
Footwear included handcrafted Spartan-inspired sandals made in Romans-sur-Isère, France, along with styles from Saucony and Dr. Martens.
The collection takes its name from Alex Ross’ book about 20th-century music and centers on the idea of bringing background details, including construction, hardware, texture, and utility, to the forefront.
With Fivio Foreign handling both the opening and closing walks, PUBLIC SERV-CE gave the presentation a clear connection between runway fashion and hip-hop culture.
