Influencer Ashlee Jenae Found Dead in Tanzania, Investigation Ongoing

Lifestyle influencer Ashlee Jenae, whose legal name was Ashly Robinson, was found dead while on vacation in Tanzania, authorities and family members said. She was 31.

Robinson, who had more than 80,000 followers on social media, was discovered unconscious at a villa in Zanzibar, where she had been traveling with her fiancé, Joe McCann. She was taken to a local hospital, where her death was confirmed, according to family statements and local officials.

Police in Tanzania said preliminary findings suggest Robinson may have died by suicide following a dispute that led hotel staff to separate the couple into different rooms. Authorities said they are not pursuing action against McCann and have not accused him of wrongdoing.

Robinson’s family and close friends have disputed that account and called for further investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death. In public statements, relatives said the explanation does not align with her character and described the loss as sudden.

Some claims circulating on social media have raised additional questions about the timeline of events, though officials have not confirmed those reports. Authorities said the investigation remains active.

Days before her death, Robinson shared posts celebrating her 31st birthday and recent engagement during a safari trip.

“Chapter 31 and I’m exactly where I need to be,” she wrote.

Family members said the trip marked a milestone moment.

“One moment she was celebrating love and life … and the next, she was gone,” the family said in a statement.

Officials in Tanzania have not released a final cause of death. The case remains under investigation.

Robinson, who was based in Portland, Oregon, was known for sharing lifestyle content and documenting her travels and relationship online. Her family described her as “deeply loved” and asked for privacy.
