A&R Report: Cassandra Shade – A Woman of Soul

cassandra-shade

In today’s musical climate where the majority of artists are focused more on following trends than offering something completely their own, Cassandran Shade stands apart. Not only is she sharing beautiful and meaningful music, she gives you something you can find nowhere else–a piece of her soul.

When did you start performing?
I started performing when I was fourteen. At first, I would sing at friends and family’s weddings and parties. Now, it’s every chance I get.

Name some of the artist who have inspired or influenced you?
There are so many artists that inspire me, I would say those that have really made a major impact to me and my style are Brandy, Whitney Houston, and groups like Incognito.

How would you describe your style?
I would describe my style as fluid neo soul. I am an open, free spirited type of person and I like to express that in every aspect of my life. Particularly with my music, I add a healing hippie vibe to classic R&B.

What separates you from other artists?
My sound and voice are what separate me from other artists. I used to think that was a negative, but now I know better. Anyone can make great music but we live in a world where people can be so inspired that they can sound similar to others. I know now that my voice is unique. Also, I add a piece of myself to every song I write. My music is meant for you to reflect on self and heal.

Name some of the major artists you have performed with?
I have not performed with any major artists as of yet. I would love to perform with 6lack or Jhene Aiko. They have amazing healing energy.

Do you have any major offers on the table?
Right now, I am an independent artist. I move based on energy and I want to find the right situation that will help me push the mission and that’s healing and awareness.

What advice would you offer other aspiring artists?
My advice is to take care of mind, body, and spirit. Take care of your mind so that you have clarity, you must educate yourself on business matters as well as perfecting your craft. Take care of your body because this is your brand. People want to know what you represent but they see you first before they even hear your voice often. Also, your health is what will help you to win the marathon when others can’t finish the race. Take care of your spirit, your mental and spiritual health are important to keep you grounded and give you discernment. So many people get wrapped up in this music world, trying to play the part and gain love. Stay true to yourself because if you have taken your craft seriously, the universe will provide the rest.
