Javar Rockamore – Unconventional Artistry

Guided by God, leveraged by knowledge, and lifted by THC, 27-year-old hip hop artist/producer delivered a critically acclaimed EP THeCure.

When did you start performing?
My first performance was actually in 2016. My bro Jwise would host an event every week at The Department Store, which was a popular venue in Atlanta’s Edgewood scene. He let me come out every week and learn and grow as a performer.

Name some of the artists who have inspired or influenced you?
I’m a hip hop artist so I’ve been heavily influenced by my era. Mase and the bad boy movement in the late 90s really resonated with me. Jay Z is the greatest rapper of all time so of course really heavily influenced by him. Kanye’s level of quality is something that I felt he showed all of as artist. Sort of like a blueprint.

How would you describe your style?
My style is southern hip hop. I’ve been compared to J Cole, Wale, Big Sean, and Kendrick but I hear in myself a lot of Outkast, 8ball and MJG, UGK, T.I., Rick Ross and even Kevin Gates. I rap over a lot samples because that’s hip hop. I also like to get my Timbaland on (laughs). I might not spit a 16. I might have a song with my guy singing on it. I might spit four bars. It’s different.

What separates you from other artists?
My voice and production. I’m all about making records. Songs that will resonate with history. Timeless music. Not really into trends. I’m not throwing shots either. My approach is different. I love what a lot of artists do today but I like to take a different route ya dig? The road less traveled.

Name some of the major artists you have performed with?
I haven’t had the pleasure to perform with any “major” artist but I work with the ripest people on a daily.

Do you have any major offers on the table?
Yea but we can’t speak on them just yet. Big things coming.

What advice would you offer other aspiring artists?
My advice for artists is to become at student of the game. Learn your craft entirely. Obsess over it. You should eat sleep and shit your craft. Know the creative and business sides of the industry. I like to tell artists to also be ahead of the curve. Think outside of the box.
