Since the conclusion of this year’s playoffs, Celtics fans have been waiting on confirmation regarding Jaylen Brown’s contract extension. With the addition of Kristaps Porzingis – via a Marcus Smart trade – and a draft pick-up in Jordan Walsh from Arkansas, the Celtics have added necessary pieces in what they hope is another Finals run this coming season. Brown’s extension seemed to be the only thing lingering as we quickly approach the 2023-24 season.
Today, Brown’s supermax contract extension was announced via his agent, Jason Glushon. A five-year, $304 million super contract has been signed, making Brown’s deal the richest in NBA history! The deal exceeds even Nikola Jokic’s $276 million extension with the Denver Nuggets!!
It was reported that Brown and his agent met with Celtics management late Sunday evening to finalize the historic contract. The hefty price tag keeps the two-time All-Star in a Celtics uniform through the 2028-29 season. It also solidifies the dynamic duo comprised of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.
