Julian Edelman Shares Michael Jordan Super Bowl Story

Though their interaction was brief, Julian Edelman recalled the moment Michael Jordan passionately cussed at him.

The year was 2015 and the New England Patriots were set to play against the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XLIX. Ahead of the big game, Edelman details his encounter with Derek Jeter and Michael Jordan at a restaurant in the city.

Edelman shared that Jeter was very “welcoming” and “charming” but distinctly remembers Jordan being somewhat “standoffish.” Thinking nothing of it, Edelman continued a brief conversation with Jeter and as he was about to leave, Jordan got his attention and had a few words of wisdom for him.

“Hey kid, I’ve got a bunch of money on you. Don’t f*ck it up.”

Admitting that he was caught guard, Edelman managed to respond with a “Yes, sir, Mr. Jordan.”

He didn’t disappoint the goat. Edelman would end up with nine catches, a team-leading 109 receiving yards as well as a touchdown. The Patriots would eventually secure their fourth Super Bowl title thanks to Malcolm Butler’s heroics near the goal line – picking off Russell Wilson at the goal line.
