The project, developed in partnership with The XXXTentacion Estate, will be officially unveiled by Martian Blueberry co-founders Love and Carl Jones during the “From The Boondocks to Martian Blueberry” panel at Dream Con 2026 on Friday, July 10.
Rather than serving as a traditional biographical film, “Make Out Hill” draws inspiration from XXXTentacion’s emotional vulnerability, creativity, and artistic vision. The story follows a fractured young soul traveling through interconnected fantasy worlds in search of the missing pieces of his heart.
Award-winning Black-owned animation studio Martian Blueberry has announced “Make Out Hill,” an original animated feature inspired by the life, artistry, and legacy of genre-defying musician XXXTentacion.
Blending anime, dark fantasy, horror, romance, and comedy, the film explores themes of identity, loneliness, transformation, and self-discovery through a surreal narrative featuring fallen angels, astral realms, shadow demons, and other fantastical worlds.
“XXXTentacion changed music by refusing to fit inside a box. At Martian Blueberry, we’ve built our studio around that same philosophy,” Love and Carl Jones said in a joint statement. “Rather than making a traditional biopic, we’re creating an original cinematic experience inspired by Jah’s imagination, vulnerability, and fearless creativity. We’re grateful to his mother Cleo and the Estate for trusting us with something so personal, and we’re committed to creating a film fans will remember for generations.”

Cleopatra Bernard, XXXTentacion’s mother and executor of The XXXTentacion Estate, said the film is intended to honor her son’s creative spirit rather than recreate his life.
“As a mother, one of the greatest gifts was watching Jah create without limits. He poured his heart, his questions, his struggles, and his dreams into everything he made,” Bernard said. “Make Out Hill isn’t about recreating his life—it’s about honoring his spirit, his imagination, and the message he left behind about growth, self-discovery, and transformation. I believe fans will recognize pieces of the artist they loved throughout this journey, and I couldn’t be more excited for the world to experience it. We’re honored to partner with Martian Blueberry to bring this vision to life and give fans a new way to experience the heart and creativity that defined his legacy.”
The film is in pre-production. Casting, first-look materials, and a premiere date will be announced later this year.
Martian Blueberry’s appearance at Dream Con 2026 also includes several additional events throughout the weekend. The studio will debut “Intellectual Power,” a sci-fi horror animated short featuring activist and author Rizza Islam, actor and comedian Affion Crockett, comedian Corey Holcomb, and others.
Love and Jones also are scheduled to host “The Power of Production” and “Building Worlds Through Art & Animation” panels on Sunday, July 12.
On Saturday, July 11, Martian Blueberry and Dream Con will launch a live voice acting talent search aimed at discovering emerging performers. Co-hosted by JD Witherspoon and Tony Weaver Jr., the competition will feature auditions before judges Carl Jones, Cree Summer, and Phil LaMarr. The winner will earn an opportunity to appear in a future Martian Blueberry production.
Martian Blueberry continues to expand its slate of original animated projects, focusing on stories that blend animation with original storytelling while highlighting Black creators and culture.
