Michael Jai White Leads, Directs Action Thriller ‘Trouble Man,’ Hitting Theaters August 1

Michael Jai White steps in front of and behind the camera for Trouble Man, an upcoming action thriller set for release in U.S. theaters on August 1, 2025, via Samuel Goldwyn Films.

White stars as Jaxen, a former police officer who now works as a private investigator in Atlanta. His latest case brings him face-to-face with the city’s underworld when he is hired to find Jahari, a missing R&B singer. As Jaxen digs deeper, he uncovers a plot much bigger than a simple disappearance. The case forces him to reevaluate his allies, his enemies, and the secrets of his own past.

The film features a strong supporting cast, including Cliff “Method Man” Smith, La La Anthony, Orlando Jones, and Mike Epps. Their characters surround Jaxen in a tangled web of suspicion and betrayal.

Trouble Man marks another directorial effort for White, known for blending gritty action with character-driven stories. The project continues his work in building complex, tough-yet-vulnerable leads in urban crime dramas.

The film arrives in theaters August 1.
