Michael Jordan is the First Pro Athlete to Make “The Forbes 400” List

Even in retirement, Michael Jordan is still making history. While many will argue who the “goat” is when it comes to basketball, we can’t deny the wealth Jordan has accumulated throughout his illustrious career. Earlier this week, Forbes named the NBA star in its “The Forbes 400” list, making Jordan the FIRST professional athlete to ever make the ranks. With a current estimated net worth of $3B USD, there’s really no debate as to why he’s on the list.

From his majority stake in the Charlotte Hornets to his brand deals with Nike, Gatorade, McDonald’s, and the $94M USD salary he made throughout the course of his NBA career, Jordan is considered one of the wealthiest in the US.

“Michael’s one of the few people that have had success three times. A lot of entrepreneurs, make it once. They have a big win, take their winnings, retire and we never hear from them again. [MJ] has had three mega successes (the NBA, Nike, Jordan brand),” stated Ted Leonsis, owner of the Washington Wizards.
