Paul Russell and Saweetie Revisit ’90s New Jack Swing With New Single ‘That Girl’

Platinum-certified rapper, singer, and songwriter Paul Russell has teamed up with Saweetie for a new single titled “That Girl,” released Friday via Arista Records. The track, described as a tribute to the new jack swing era of the 1990s, is accompanied by a music video set in a high-energy art gallery heist.

Produced by Sean Cook and Jeff Gitty, “That Girl” delivers throwback production elements, including gang vocals, harmonies, TR-808 snares, and turntable scratches. The song blends nostalgic melody with bold lyrics, positioning itself as a soundtrack for summer cookouts and casual house parties alike.

“It’s criminal that girl is so fine / I’m cuffing you tonight, you all mine,” Russell raps on the track. Saweetie follows with a confident verse that includes a nod to R&B group Mint Condition.

In a statement about the collaboration, Russell said, “Long ago there was a simpler time, when the jeans were baggier, the songs were lovey-er and people actually danced at the club. Saweetie and I think the world needs a bit of that right now, so we’re bringing it back: Welcome to the ’90s. I love this song because it makes me want to move, and I think it’s gonna do the same for you.”

The music video captures the duo plotting and executing a stylish gallery robbery, adding a visual narrative to the track’s playful tone. “That Girl” is now available on all major streaming platforms.
