‘Power’ Spin-Off Starring Mary J. Blige in The Works

Singer Mary J. Blige announced that she will star in an upcoming spin-off of the popular television series, ‘Power,’ at the Television Critics Association press tour on Friday. The show’s executive producer, Curtis ‘50 Cent’ Jackson, and creator Courtney Kemp attended the event with the R&B legend.

The new series, “Power Book II: Ghost,” will continue to follow some of the most controversial characters from the original.

At the press tour, Blige stated, “This is probably the most exciting thing that’s going to happen to me this year. I’ve been a fan of ‘Power’ since the very beginning and I want to thank Courtney Kemp and 50 Cent for starting this conversation with me.”

“I’ve known so many Tashas, I’ve known so many Ghosts. I’ve dated so many Ghosts. I’m a huge fan for life, and I’m so grateful to be a part of it” she added.

Jackson, who has been a huge supporter of bringing the “Queen of Hip-Hop Soul” into the world of ‘Power,’ recently expressed his excitement.

“I said, I got to find a replacement for me. We found somebody that Courtney’s gonna have a ball working with because it’s female-orientated, and somebody who’s got enough juice and grace to make the show even bigger,” he said.

The show’s season 6 will be split into two parts, and is expected to be its final season. ‘Power’ will premiere on August 25, with the last five episodes airing early next year.
