New York Attorney General Letitia James announced Monday that her office secured a donation of more than $13,500 worth of baby formula for Rochester families following a settlement with formula supplier Paragon USA & Co., LLC.
The donation stems from a state investigation that found Paragon raised formula prices by over 20 percent during the 2022 nationwide shortage, violating New York’s price gouging laws.
The company has paid a $10,000 penalty and must provide an additional $35,000 in donations or cash by June 2025.
The formula will be distributed by local nonprofit Foodlink. This marks the third donation secured from Paragon, totaling more than $21,400 in baby formula delivered to New York communities so far.
James has led multiple enforcement actions on behalf of consumers, securing millions in settlements and goods, including formula and cleaning products, from companies that inflated prices during market disruptions.
