Author/Filmmaker Jimmy DaSaint Releases New Video, ‘My Story’

Philadelphia artist, author, and filmmaker Jimmy DaSaint is adding another chapter to his body of work with the release of his new music video, “My Story.”

The release continues DaSaint’s focus on using music to document his experiences, setbacks, and evolution. The Philadelphia native has built a career across music, publishing, and film, often drawing from events in his own life and the environment that shaped him.

Born James Mathis, DaSaint served a federal prison sentence before establishing himself as an author and filmmaker. He secured a three-book publishing deal while incarcerated and later expanded his work into film and music.

He has kept his approach to storytelling tied to Philadelphia. DaSaint wrote 30 novels and created 10 feature films at the time, with his projects centered on stories connected to the city.

Music has become another outlet for that storytelling. His 2024 album, “Tears of a Hustler,” featured songs including “My Younger Self” and “Dear Momma,” while its visual companion, “What We Die For,” extended the project into film.

DaSaint continued the series with “Still a Hustler” in 2025 and expanded it again in 2026. Apple Music lists his 17-track album “Soul of a Hustler” as a June 24, 2026, release through DaSaint Entertainment.

His work outside music has followed the same path. DaSaint has established himself as an award-winning author and film director, with an interest in telling stories about prison, faith, street life, and personal choices.
