Tory Lanez Stabbed in California Prison, Treated for Non-Life-Threatening Injuries

Rapper Tory Lanez was stabbed by another inmate at California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi on Monday morning, according to reports from TMZ and the Los Angeles Times.

Lanez, born Daystar Peterson, was reportedly in the prison yard at the time of the attack. He was transported to a hospital in Bakersfield for treatment of injuries that sources described as not life-threatening. The motive behind the stabbing has not been confirmed.

Representatives for Peterson, the Kern County Sheriff’s Department, and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Peterson is serving a 10-year prison sentence after being convicted in 2022 for shooting Grammy-winning artist Megan Thee Stallion. The incident occurred in July 2020 after a party in the Hollywood Hills. Prosecutors said Peterson yelled a threat at Megan before shooting at her feet as she exited a vehicle, injuring her.

He was sentenced in August 2023 following a trial that drew widespread attention in the music industry and on social media platforms.

Peterson has remained musically active while incarcerated. In March, he released an album titled Peterson, his first since his conviction. On Friday, he announced a follow-up project titled Slutty Bass, describing it on Instagram as a blend of styles including Miami bass and R&B.

Authorities have not released additional details about Monday’s incident. The investigation into the stabbing remains ongoing.
