UConn Women’s Basketball Lose Back-to-Back Games, First Time Since 1993

Losing isn’t something that the UConn women’s basketball team is used to. Let alone losing twice in a row.

In addition to a loss against the top-ranked South Carolina squad this past Sunday, the Huskies fell 59-52 against Marquette last night. The back-to-back L’s is the first in THIRTY YEARS!  This women’s college basketball powerhouse had never lost two consecutive games prior to this past week.

Saying that out loud doesn’t even sound right.

Geno Auriemma, the mastermind behind one of the greatest teams in college basketball, and 11 national titles, clearly has some adjustments to make. The Huskies committed 19 turnovers and 17 fouls while making 3 of 13 three-point attempts. The upset is also the first Big East loss of the season for UConn.

Wow. What a run. That’s incredible,” Gonzaga production coordinator, Steven Karr, said, expressing what everyone else was sharing across social media. See below for some of the reactions.

UConn looks to bounce back this Saturday as they visit Georgetown – who currently sits as the 8th seed in the Big East.
