In a world fractured by war and plague, the Freemans have built a life of order and survival on a remote farm—an oasis guarded by vigilance and force. The family’s matriarch, Hailey (Danielle Deadwyler), a former soldier, and her partner, Galen (Michael Greyeyes), have raised their children to defend what remains of their world. Occasional raids threaten their safety, but discipline and training have kept the family intact.
That balance is tested when Emanuel (Kataem O’Connor), the couple’s eldest, crosses the boundary of their isolated refuge. In the forest beyond their fence, he meets a young woman (Milcania Diaz-Rojas), igniting a desire for connection that could compromise everything the Freemans have fought to preserve.
As Emanuel confronts the lure of life beyond survival, the story explores what happens when love and longing challenge a family’s grip on safety in a world that no longer offers guarantees.
