Hailey Kilgore, known for her breakout performance as Ti Moune in the Broadway revival of Once on This Island, continues to expand her creative reach with the release of her latest single, “Dangerous Game.”
Kilgore, who currently stars in Broadway’s Hadestown, described the track as a personal reflection written during the final moments of an intense writing session. “I wrote the song by myself in the last 45 minutes of a 10-hour writing camp,” Kilgore said.
The single is the first release in a larger musical project that draws from the Seven Stages of Grief. Kilgore said she wants listeners to connect with the vulnerability in the lyrics and recognize the emotional complexity of letting go. “‘Dangerous Game’ is about the moment you realize love is shifting into something unfamiliar,” she said. “You’re trying to hold on to what was, chasing a feeling of stability, even as it slips away.”
Best known for her Tony and Grammy-nominated stage work, Kilgore has also appeared in film and television. Her credits include roles in Respect opposite Jennifer Hudson, and the feature Cinnamon, in which she played the lead. On television, she stars as Jukebox in Starz’s Power Book III: Raising Kanan and has appeared in Steven Spielberg’s Amazing Stories on Apple TV and NBC’s The Village.
“Dangerous Game” marks another chapter in Kilgore’s evolution as a storyteller, using music to explore emotional truths.
