While so many think modeling is posting half-naked photos on social media, Lakia Carpenter is putting in the work on a professional level every day. Follow her on Instagram @mzkia89

When did you start modeling professionally and what made you choose it as a career?
I started Modeling in April 2018 as an Amani Allure Model. Honestly, the more I was doing runway shows and different events, I fell in love with it. I would rather be paid doing something I love.

You are also an event promoter. What kind of events do you prefer to organize?
I do promotions with the group RSVP Atlanta for different clubs in Atlanta. The type of events we put together are usually club performances, album release parties, birthday events, etc. I love putting together birthday events more. Bringing people together to celebrate another year of life is a blessing.

Do you feel that social media has helped or harmed modeling on a professional level?
I think it helped because more agencies and directors can find what they are looking for at the tip of a search or hashtag. More people are using social media in finding the right look for their companies or events. Always be mindful of what you promote and post.

As a brand ambassador for Flawless Beauty Impressions, what are your day-to-day duties?
As a brand ambassador for Flawless Beauty Impressions, my job is to promote Renicka Carswell’s business as a licensed cosmetologist / CEO to Flawlessbeautyimpressions service as an actual client. I give detail information, as she provides me with, step by step process of completing a style and after care to style. I promote through different sites, hair groups, and different events I attend as well.

Is there any advice you’d like to offer aspiring models?
Have Confidence in yourself! Even when it may seem like you want to give up, keep going because your season could be the next one.
