India Shawn has returned with a new single and video titled “Kill Switch,” released through VANTA Music and Disney Music Group. The release marks a new chapter for Shawn as she explores themes of choice, vulnerability, and emotional boundaries.
The song was co-written by Shawn along with Varren Wade, D’Mile, Livvy Bennett and Michael Benjamin Hunter. Production was handled by D’Mile, Bennett and Hunter.
“‘Kill Switch’ is an unexpected shift, as I move away from the familiar shadows of unrequited love and reclaim the power to decide my own fate,” Shawn said. “It’s a song about recognizing the potential danger of crossing the line from friends to lovers, and trying to safeguard what’s real before it becomes too messy; ‘this could turn from a good thing to hate, keep it shallow for our own sake.’”
The video, directed by Anne-Sophie Bine, co-stars Shawn with actor and musician Luke James. It follows a surreal journey through shifting memories and identities, as Shawn’s character becomes entangled in reflections of past relationships. As the narrative unfolds, she confronts the realization that some connections aren’t meant to last.
VANTA Music is the label founded by Oscar and Grammy Award-winning producer D’Mile, Grammy Award-winning engineer John Kercy, and music executive Natalie Prospere. The company has positioned itself as a platform for artists who aim to push creative boundaries.
“Kill Switch” is now available on major streaming platforms.
