Lyric Chanel Anderson, the daughter NBA legend Kenny Anderson and director/producer Tami Roman, continues the family tradition of pursuing excellence while making a name for herself, her own way.

Tell us about the new series on BET, Haus of Vicious.
Haus of Vicious is a series that follows the lives of fashion icons Chantel and Kane. They are owners of the Haus of Vicious, a fashion company. Chantel is a large Fashion icon, and Kane is her Narcissistic husband; from the outside looking in, they look like the perfect couple. The show is centered in a world of schemes, betrayal, and scandals. In the company, the employees feel underappreciated; they have twisted motives for their actions.

How does Tia differ from any other roles that you have portrayed?
I’d say the role of Tia is different because she is vindictive and a little disoriented. She’s distracted by trying to keep up with everything she tells everyone around her. She knows secrets about the company that can bring them down. Instead of playing checkers with the knowledge, she uses it strategically as if she was playing chess. She is way sneakier than other roles I’ve had in the past; typically, I would play the nice, naive, and sweet girl.

What is Tia’s role in all of the scandal, scheming and secrets in the series?
Without saying too much, she is the kind of person that has the power to take everything down. Since she knows the secrets about the things that happen in the Haus of vicious, she is the kind of person that people think to talk down to and skip over. Everyone disregards her without knowing she could destroy the company if she were to disclose the information. She is very vindictive; as the story goes on, you learn that she has a highly complex background and many secrets around her life. Overall, her primary role involving the cast is whether she will take them down or not.

Would you say that you and Tia have any similar qualities?
No, I don’t think so, which makes her a fun role to play because I can step out of my place and become a character. I’m not a spiteful or vindictive person like the way she can be at times.

How is it working with the cast, can you share any insights on what fans can expect from your acting counterparts in the series?
Everyone is so talented and amazing, one of the things that I loved is that we all had an amazing chemistry. It was nice to be on a positive and friendly set. I’m sure that will translate on screen because we actually got along with each other.

What was the experience like working under your mom as the producer?
It was great, she wanted to give me the opportunity to work on my own she didn’t give me much input on set. The director would mostly guide me in the right direction while filming. I really appreciated her to giving me distance to work on my own craft and allowing me to be a part of such an amazing cast.
How did you prepare for the role itself, any routine or preparation for this series.

I did a lot of work off set. I gave her a backstory and found out as much as I could about her character. Mainly preparation and the work prior to stepping on set helped me. From training and scene studying I’d break down the material and give the character intent. For things like this I would go line by line and give her a motive behind her actions.

Do you have any other projects that you are focused on currently, outside of your acting career?
In a few weeks I am starting my law school journey, that’s going to be a full-time job. In addition to acting one of my goals is to hopefully become a sports attorney. I’ll be starting law school and embarking on a new journey.
