Rhoyle Ivy King (he/him/them) is breaking barriers with his incredible performances as Bringston college student Nathaniel Hardin, going from a reoccurring role to series regular on All-American: Homecoming.

Your character Nathaniel Hardin on All American Homecoming went from reoccurring to a regular, how proud are you of such a great accomplishment?
Really proud. I am really honored that my showrunner saw something in me from my initial co-star role in the pilot to now.

Nathaniel tends to be the voice of wisdom of the series, wise far beyond their years, what can we expect for season two?
You can expect to see the next phase of her journey. In the season trailer we saw her kissing someone in the elevator, so I can’t wait for you to see what that was all about. But, most importantly I’m excited that we get to reveal what her legacy may become.

In what ways has playing this character impacted your personal life?
She’s a reminder that love always wins, and to stand firm in that.

How much do you contribute to your character’s fearless fashion sense?
This season our costume designer, Joe, keeps us looking our best! I’ve really enjoyed how Nate’s fashion is telling her story as well this season.

You have played so many characters throughout your career from popular shows including Pose, Party of Five, and The Sex Lives of College Girls. Share with us some of your favorites.
One of my favorite roles to date is playing Angel Dumott Schunard in Rent. She’s so full of light!
Fitness is also a very significant part of your life, give us a glimpse of your workout routine. Each morning I start off with a stretch and 30 min run. Then A or B day strength (Upper Body or Lower Body). Some days I end with an extra 1 hour elliptical.

How do you feel about the progress that has been made in regards to acceptance for the LGBTQ+ community in the mainstream?
We’ve definitely come quite a ways. There was a time when the possibility of seeing a Nathaniel on TV was impossible, let alone to be in a leading capacity.

What are some of the changes you would like to see in television and film?
Continuing to see more and more diversity behind the tables and in creative positions.

You have overcome so many impediments in simply being true to yourself, are there any words of support you would like offering those facing similar challenges?
To always remember that the things you overcame as your young self, your old self is thanking you for.
